Post treatment tests
Test physiologic or cardinal range of motion in the area treated. Observe postural alignment in the personâs body both locally and globally.
Stack and borrow
Assess the mobility of the tissue to be treated. Then assess the location of the near and far first barriers in one dimension. Load the tissue to the far first barrier, also known as the direction of ease. The Z axis in these illustrations is actually perpendicular to the plane of the page. It is drawn here as diagonal, giving a perspective view to represent three dimensions on a two-dimensional page.
Maintaining the far first barrier load established in the first step, now assess the location of the near and far first barriers in a second dimension. Load the tissue to the far first barrier in this second dimension. Two dimensions are now stacked.
Maintaining the far first barrier loads established in the first two dimensions, now assess the location of the near and far first barriers in a third dimension. Load the tissue to the first barrier in this third dimension. Three dimensions are now stacked to far first barrier loads.
Choosing any one of the three dimensions, change the load in that single dimension to near first barrier. The distance traveled from neutral to this new near first barrier will be greater than when originally tested.
Both at the same time, move the remaining two dimensions to near first barrier. It will be found there is very little distance to travel as most of the slack in the system was used up by moving the first dimension to near first barrier. A near first barrier stack has now been established, but because this near first barrier stack was arrived at by a different path than usual, the position will be quite different than if a plain near first barrier stack was created.
Maintain the sum vector load created in the first five steps as you allow an unwind to proceed. This may be a plain unwind, or augmented, or alternate interrupt. Once a larger more general release is felt, and the unwind stops, remove your hands. Post mobility test the tissue to learn what change has occurred. Make a choice to further treat this area with either the same or another technique, or to return to general assessment.
